Using AIVOW Lite with WooCommerce

Apply badges and optional Lightweight AI Metadata to WooCommerce products, the Shop page, product category archives, and product tag archives.

When to use this guide

Use this guide when a WooCommerce product, the Shop page, a product category archive, or a product tag archive needs a visible AI usage badge or optional AI-related metadata.

Add a badge to a product

  1. Open Products → All Products.
  2. Edit the product that you want to label.
  3. Find the AI Disclosure Settings panel.
  4. Enable the AI content label.
  5. Choose the AI usage status that accurately describes the product content or AI-powered feature.
  6. Optionally select a related Active AI system.
  7. Optionally enter custom badge text for the product.
  8. Update the product.
  9. Open the single product page and confirm that the badge appears correctly.

Product badges use the same global icon, color, placement, opacity, shadow, and related appearance settings as other supported WordPress content. Product-level custom badge text overrides the corresponding global text when provided.

Add a badge to the WooCommerce Shop page

  1. Identify the page currently assigned as the WooCommerce Shop page.
  2. Open that page in the WordPress editor.
  3. Find the AI Disclosure Settings panel.
  4. Enable the AI content label and select the appropriate AI usage status.
  5. Optionally select a related Active AI system or enter custom badge text.
  6. Update the page.
  7. Open the public Shop page and confirm that the badge appears in the storefront context.

The WooCommerce Shop page is a product archive context. Its frontend output may be controlled by WooCommerce, the active theme, or a page builder even though its AI disclosure settings are stored on the assigned WordPress page.

Add badges to product categories and tags

  1. Open Products → Categories or Products → Tags.
  2. Edit the required product category or product tag.
  3. Find the AI disclosure fields.
  4. Enable the label and choose the appropriate AI usage status.
  5. Optionally select a related Active AI system and enter custom badge text.
  6. Save the term.
  7. Open the corresponding public product archive and confirm that the badge appears.

Labelling one product does not automatically label its product category, product tag, or the main Shop page. Each context is configured separately.

Enable WooCommerce metadata separately

Visible badges and Lightweight AI Metadata are separate features. A supported WooCommerce context can display a badge without producing AI meta tags.

  1. Open AIVOW → AIVOW Settings → Metadata.
  2. Enable Lightweight AI Metadata.
  3. Enable the dedicated WooCommerce Shop page metadata option when the labelled Shop page should produce metadata.
  4. Enable taxonomy archive metadata when labelled product categories or product tags should produce metadata.
  5. Save the settings.
  6. Inspect the HTML source of the product, Shop page, product category archive, or product tag archive.
  7. Confirm that the applicable custom meta tags appear only in labelled and enabled contexts.

Individual labelled products use the standard metadata settings for singular content. The dedicated Shop and taxonomy options control their respective archive contexts.

WooCommerce integration boundary

AIVOW Lite adds manual disclosure settings, badges, and optional metadata to supported WooCommerce contexts.

The plugin does not automatically scan products, descriptions, media, attributes, or other catalog data for AI use. It does not change product prices, inventory, cart behavior, checkout processing, orders, payments, customer accounts, or WooCommerce customer data.

Cart, Checkout, and My Account pages are not automatically labelled simply because WooCommerce is active.

AIVOW Lite requires product disclosure settings to be edited on individual product screens. Product Quick Edit, Bulk Edit, and WooCommerce bulk management workflows are not available in AIVOW Lite. These workflows are planned for the AIVOW Pro add-on, but the roadmap may change before release.

Product and taxonomy disclosure fields use the same workflow described in Adding and Customizing AI Content Badges.

Expected result

The configured WooCommerce products, Shop page, product category archives, and product tag archives display their assigned AI usage badges.

Applicable custom AI meta tags appear only when Lightweight AI Metadata and the required Shop page or taxonomy archive options are enabled. Unlabelled WooCommerce contexts do not receive AI metadata from the plugin.

Common mistakes

  • Assuming that labelling one product automatically labels the Shop page or its product categories and tags.
  • Editing the wrong page instead of the page assigned as the WooCommerce Shop page.
  • Enabling a badge but failing to update the product, page, or taxonomy term.
  • Expecting AI metadata to appear when only the visible badge has been enabled.
  • Enabling global metadata but not enabling the dedicated Shop or taxonomy archive option.
  • Expecting metadata on an unlabelled product or archive.
  • Assuming that AIVOW Lite automatically detects AI-written product descriptions.
  • Expecting product Quick Edit or Bulk Edit badge controls in AIVOW Lite.
  • Checking only the product editor instead of the public WooCommerce template.
  • Assuming that every WooCommerce or PHP warning is caused by AIVOW Lite.

Troubleshooting

  • Confirm that WooCommerce and AIVOW Lite are both active.
  • For an individual product, confirm that the AI content label is enabled and the product is Published.
  • For the Shop page, confirm which WordPress page is currently assigned as the WooCommerce Shop page.
  • Confirm that the assigned Shop page has an AI badge enabled.
  • For a product category or tag, reopen the term editor and confirm that the AI disclosure fields were saved.
  • Open the public product, Shop page, or taxonomy archive rather than relying only on the admin editor.
  • Review AIVOW → AIVOW Settings → Metadata if the expected custom AI meta tags are missing.
  • Confirm that the dedicated Shop or taxonomy archive metadata option is enabled for the affected context.
  • Inspect the raw HTML source when testing metadata.
  • Clear any active page, CDN, WooCommerce, or optimization caches if older badge or metadata values remain visible.
  • If a custom theme or page builder changes the WooCommerce template, test with a standard WooCommerce-compatible theme to identify a template-specific placement issue.
  • If a debug warning appears, temporarily deactivate other related plugins one at a time to identify whether the issue is caused by AIVOW Lite, WooCommerce, the theme, or another integration.
  • Remember that Cart, Checkout, and My Account are not automatically labelled by the WooCommerce integration.
